“There is in the very air of Aberdeen a tinge of history — a reminder of the glorious yesterday,” a reporter once wrote. This charming city was incorporated in 1837 and became the seat of Monroe County in 1849. Aberdeen abounds with excellent examples of antebellum and Victorian homes and is considered one of Mississippi’s most beautiful towns. In addition to the nine homes open for tour, other attractions include several historic churches, City Hall with its Tiffany skylight, the Courthouse, cemeteries and the Evans Memorial Library and Museum.
Special Attractions
On Friday there will be a musical performance and on Saturday a large arts and crafts show downtown. A candlelight walking tour will be held Saturday evening on Maple Boulevard featuring spotlighted homes, an outdoor cafe and tableaux.

Morning tours are 9 until 1 o’clock and afternoon tours 1 until 5 o’clock on Friday and Saturday. Hours are 1 until 6 o’clock on Sunday. Each home is open every day. Admission for all nine homes is $8.00 for adults, students and military personnel half price.
Tickets may be purchased at City Hall.
