The county seat of Carroll County, historic Carrollton was chartered in 1833. The Carrollton Pilgrimage offers charm and variety and is much more delightful than a simple tour of old homes. In addition to the 12 homes open for public touring, guests may also visit two museums, Gee’s Store, the Carroll County Courthouse, four churches and four cemeteries dating back to the early history of the county. Tickets for the tours may be used for both days.
Visitors can tour at their leisure and stay as long as they like at each place. Carrollton is not just a little town on a tour, it is a way of life.
Special Attractions
A colorful flea market will be held in the shady town square during Pilgrimage, and a Bicentennial quilt will be on display in the Merrill Building Museum.
Bountiful servings of home-cooked food prepared by the
Cedar Hill
Academy Teacher-Parent Association will be available at the Community House.
Tour Information
The hours for touring homes will be 10 until 5 o’clock. Pilgrimage tickets may be purchased at $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students and children under 12. Proceeds go toward the restoration of the Merrill Building. Pilgrimage Headquarters in the J. Z. George Law Office on Court Square will open at 9 o’clock.
