Dear Mr. Charles H. Gray,
Thank you for your letter and information concerning USMA graduate John S. Brush, class 1812. It is extraordinary how life leads us along, the adversity and challenges. To see an old veteran of the Battle of New Orleans reduced to such circumstances is poignant.
I	have attached two items, copies of the Cadet	and LT Brush's entries in	two
government sources, cited therein. That is all	we have on John S. Brush,	unless	the
archives and special collections at West Point	has more, which, I really	doubt.	I	see
there are some discrepancies between the account you forwarded me and official entries. This happens all the time, since this	is not a significant historical
character is just way records and memory are.
