J. John Russell “Russ” Cameron - bom 1867 according to the 1870 Perry
County census. Almedia Cameron told us that he married Melissa Ann Lee.
Marion County Court records show they married on November 16, 1885.
Russ is buried in the Bay Creek cemetery in Lamar County with a headstone
that reads “1869 - 1938.” Almedia said they had:

EX.	Mary “Caroline” Cameron - bom around 1824, probably in Marion County,
Mississippi, based on various census records. George Cameron, the historian for this family, was interviewed in 1973. He is the grandson of John W. and Nancy Waters Cameron and great-grandson of our Jesse Cameron. He told us his grandmother, Nancy, told him that Mary “Caroline” Cameron was referred to as “Aunt Caroline Bilbo.” She said that “Wash” Bilbo was a relative.
In June of 1973, we spoke to Doshie Bilbo (Mrs. James) Henley, living in Kiln, Mississippi. She was bom in 1902 and was a daughter of William Bilbo and granddaughter of James Bilbo and Caroline Cameron. She said her mother was Amanda Henley, and both of her parents are buried in Bayou Co Co cemetery with a headstone. She also said her grandmother was a Cameron for sure and that she was related to “old Wash Bilbo.” Doshie said her father had several siblings to include: Jim, “Sollie,” and Sarah Bilbo who married J. J. “Jud” Stewart.
The 1850 census of Hancock County, Mississippi, lists the children of “Caroline Billbow” as: Jasper, Sophona, Elizabeth, Emily, and one unnamed male child age Vz year. In 1850 she is listed as bom in Mississippi in 1820. The 1860 Marion County census shows Mary C. Bilbo, bom in Mississippi in 1825 with no husband. Children listed that year were: Jasper, Mellissy, Emily, Sarah, and James Bilbo. The 1880 census of St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, in the area of Honey Island Swamp, Caroline Bilbo is shown to be bom in 1821 in South Carolina. Confusing, but not unusual for the censuses of that time.
In 1993 we found a copy of a book called “Bilbo and Kin,” by Polly Ray of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She did a lot of research on the Bilbo family of south Mississippi which also included this Mary “Caroline” Cameron.
We will now summarize part of what she had in her book. James Bilbo married Caroline Cameron on March 19, 1840, in Marion County, Mississippi. James was killed in a shootout with members of the famed outlaws, the Copeland Clan of this area. His brother. George “Wash” Bilbo was also shot in the hip, leaving him with a bad limp. James and Caroline Bilbo had:
