Mr. Otis was also president of the Union Lumber Company of Oregon and British Columbia, a director in the Louisiana-Mexican Timber and Investment Company of Chihuahua, Mexico, and chairman of the board of Standard Export Lumber Company which sold lumber to world dealers, Price and Pierce of London, England. He served as a Director of the Hibernia Bank and Trust Company, New Orleans, from the early 1900's until his death. He was listed in the 1918 edition of WHO'S WHO in LOUISIANA and MISSISSIPPI, and was a member of the Pickwick Club in New Orleans. In 1884, Mr. Otis was appointed Superintendent of Public Education of Hancock County, serving a four year term. He was Logtown Postmaster in the early 1890's for four or five years. He served as the first senior deacon of the Pearlington Masonic Lodge, founded in 1883, and became a 32nd Degree Mason, as well as Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Otis was a member of the Logtown Methodist Church, serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School for forty-three years. He was on the Board of Stewards of the Methodist Church for forty years. He was also President of the Seashore Methodist Campground School in Biloxi for several terms.
