EASTERN STATES ARCHAEOLOGICAL FEDERATION
Persuant to the discussions of the Spring Meeting, Hay Z,
Jackson and the May NEWSLETTER, regarding the above, the following is submitted as information on the ESAF and its dues for each member state association. Those of you who questioned the cost, please see paragraph 5.
1.	The Eastern States Archaeological Federation was founded 35 years ago. At present there are 22 member organizations from IS States and 2 Provinces in Canada, with a total membership of almost
10,000.	Membership is open to Archaeological Societies from each of the United States east of the Mississippi River and each of the Provinces of the eastern half of Canada.
2.	The objectives of the Federation are to serve as a bond between the member societies, to encourage and promote scientific archaeological work by the member societies, to publish and encourage the publication of reports on archaeological work, to promote the spread of archaeological knowledge, and to encage in archaeological projects which exceed the capabilities of the member societies
3.	The administration and operation of the Federation is carried out
by elected Officers and an Executive Board which consists of the officers, the appointed staff chairmen, and one representative from each member society. The officers are elected for two year terms at the annual business meeting on even-numbered years. Officers for 1969-1970 are:	President,	Howard A. MacCord (Rich-
mond, Virginia); Vice-President and President-Elect, Don W. Dragoo (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania); Recording Secretary, Ronald Thomas (Dover, Deleware); Corresponding Secretary, Maurice Robbins (Attleboro, Massachusetts); Treasurer, Bettye J. Broyles
(Morgantown, West Virginia).
. A Bulletin is issued each year by the Federation and distributed to each member of the member societies. This publication contains the reports given at the annual meeting by each member society, the Federation officers and staff chairmen, and the minutes of the meetings of the Executive Board. Abstracts of the papers presented at the annual meeting are also included in the Bulletin. Two other publications (An Anthropological Bibliography of the Eastern Seaboard, Volume I and Volume II) were compeled under the auspices of the Federation and are still a-va i1ab1e.
5.	Dues for member states with archaeological societies are $10.00 for the first 100 members and $ /. 50 for each additional 100 or portion thereof, plus $1.00 for each chapter. (In other words if you had 170 members and 2 chapters your dues to the Federation would be $?9-50).
6.	Each year the Federation meets (early in November) in one of the member states, with the Archaeological Society of that state serving as hosts. The 1969 Annual Meeting will be held in Morgantown, West Virginia, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 7-9. Headquarters will be at the Holiday Inn and the sessions will be held on the West V t i ? i n ? -' University Campus.
