June 13 - 1990 When Deborah (Hover) McCain was to get married Willie took me to Picayune to get an evening gown and we searched in several stores but nothing suitable just plain ones and I was looking for blue because her other grandmother was wearing blue, so Willie said come on we'll go to N.O. and see what we can find. So we did and the first store we entered had just what I was looking for, a light blue with a lovely pin on the front and it was only $72.00 and the ones I looked at in Picayune was $75.00 and $80.00. Then I found some black slippers with medium heels and they were open work also a small flat purse with silver handle chain. So that's what I wore to Debbie's wedding. Then Ruby took me to a regular clothing store and we found a lovely black evening gown for a hundred dollars so she bought me the gown, slip, corset and I wore the slippers I wore to Debbie's wedding. And I had another purse with gold chain. So one day Ruth (Miller) Laney was here and she said Aunt Pearl, I'd cherish any little thing you'd give me for a keepsake. That was Willie's niece so I gave her my little purse and a pair of white gloves and she was so proud of them. I've always loved Ruth. She's a sweet and wonderful person. 127
