The Fourth vas noted herein fine style. During the day everybody kept in the shade and at night amused themselves vith fire-vorks and bon-firen. The beach was lined with large beacons extending a long distance. There vas an old-time cake valk at the Hotel and a Ball aftervards, and at the Anniston House the place fairly boiled over with invited guests, "who enjoyed the nipht immensely. No accident occurred to mar the occasion. It vas intended to have had the Declaration of Independence read at the Court-house, but it vasn1t.

The Board of Supervisors	on V.'ednesday passed an	order
granting the privilege to Geo. VJ. Pierce to run a horse railroad (trolley) from the Hotel to the main depot Df the L & N Railroad. The consideration on Mr. Pierce's part vas the gift of ^100 to the Mississippi City school. The road Is to be in running order vithin 90 days and a bond	for	the performance	of the	vork must
be filed vithin ten days.	An	application for	a similar road	to
Handsboro vas presented but subsequently vlthdravn. People say there’s a heap of money in n horse railroad. Depot, ma’am—ye ma’am—all aboard, ma’am—get off behind there, boy--gar-yaap, mule.
