To clarify an old mistake from years ago, we will identify the John Lott that settled “Lott's Bluff’ and was a prominent figure in early Marion Co. history. It had to be John Lott born c. 1760, son of John Lott c. 1740 and nephew to Arthur Lott, my Solomon Lott, etc. We say this because a person of prominence in Marion Co. had to be intelligent and probably had some level of education. He would have been a person of integrity and good business logic - in short, a leader. The following is a list of events helping to identify this John Lott:
1)	The John Lott of 1740 was dead by 1808 in Washington County, MS Territory.
2)	The “other” John Lotts have for the most part been eliminated for various reasons.
3)	He was “John Lott, Jr” on October 9, 1787 in Effington Co., Georgia as a 1st Lieutenant 7th Co. (Kratovil, Geo. Gov. Journal, p. 49).
4)	He paid taxes and made many records in Tattnall Co., GA until he “John Lott, Jr of Tattnall Co., GA” received a passport through Georgia on December 6, 1805. His father, John Lott, Sr. c. 1740 got his passport on November 7, 1807. After their departure, records almost completely stop in GA.
5)	John Lott c.1760 stops first in Washington Co., MS Territory in the area where his father was living. On February 4, 1807, John Lott c.1760 executes a “deed of gift” naming his children: Elizabeth, John, Luke, Sarah, Arthur, Robert, and Fanny. He names “his brothers, Robert Lott and Luke Lott” as guardians to his minor children. The children all seem to have been bom in GA, except Luke and two additional children who were bom in Mississippi.
6)	After his father c. 1740 dies in 1808, John Lott c. 1760 and family move south into Marion Co., MS where he establishes himself on the Pearl River on what would soon be called “Lott's Bluff,” and later becomes the city of Columbia, MS on December 16, 1812.
7)	On January 13, 1818 John Lott, dong with John Ford, Solomon Ford, and others were appointed “Commissioners” for Marion Co. to begin the process of building a courthouse, jail, etc.
8)	On May 9, 1821, “John Lott, Sr.” c.1760 (now using Sr. because his father is deceased, and he now has a son who is a Junior) signs a deed where his wife is named as “Sarah Ann Lott”. This same wife is also listed on various other records of Marion Co. Their son, “John Lott, Jr.,” bom between 1794 and 1802 (at that time in Marion Co. is the only “true” Junior, with his father, John Lott Sr. c.1760, living there also). This son, “John Lott, Jr” is listed on a Marion Co. deed dated September 4,1826 with his wife “Elizabeth Lott”. This Elizabeth Lott is the Elizabeth Lee that married “John Lott, Jr.” (listed as such) on February 7, 1818 with Arthur Lott (his brother) as witness. The record also names Elizabeth's father as Samuel Lee (Marion Co., MS Marriage Book A, p. 155).
With these Lotts identified, we will now start on the children of Solomon and Ann Lott, starting with with what appears to be the oldest and work down. I will cite any records available to connect each sibling to the other(s). Over the years, we interviewed
