A TWO-M I LE-LONG WOODEN HIGHWAY BRIDGE SPANNING THE BAY WAS OPENED IN 1958 AND THUS ENDED THE INADEQUATE FERRYBOAT SERVICE WHICH CARRIED TRAFFIC FROM BAY ST. LOUIS TO HENDERSON POINT. IT IN TURN WAS REPLACED IN RECENT YEARS BY A NINE-MILLION DOLLAR, FOUR-LANE <D NCRETE BRIDGE, WHICH IS PERHAPS THE OOUNIY,S GREATEST ASSET.
