Sixth Bay Beachfront fest to take a look bac
Local and regional crafts, cajun and creole cuisine, antique autos, a bikini contest and lots of live music are but a few of the events planned for those who attend Bay St. Louis’ 6th annual Beachfront Festival next Sunday, June 2, along North and South Beach Boulevard in the downtown Bay area.
Craftsmen from Louisiana and Alabama as well as from throughout Mississippi and the Gulf Coast will exhibit their skills and wares in a series of booths side by side with those serving everything from jambalya and red beans and rice, to boiled crawfish and cold beverages.
New this year will be a bicycle time trial race, and organizers expect an expanded
version of a popular event begun a couple of years ago: a show of antique autos.
The music starts at 1 p.m. with Psalm 149. At 1:30, Sui (that’s pronounced Sue-ee), with Claudia Murphy, Margaret Spotorno, Terry Towles, Fred Spence and Gerald Sportorno, takes the bandstand. Guitar Bo and Miss Dee are scheduled to perform at2:15p.m., and an hour later, look for music from Country Sounds.
At 4:20 p.m., young women aged 18 and older will compete for a $50 cash first prize in the Miss Beachfront Festival bikini contest, after which the Juke Jumpers will take over.
From 6-7 p.m., the Music Co., featuring
Jerry Fisher, former lead singer wil Sweat and Tears, will peform.
