Smith • I Old Town" Bay St Louis Old Town is lined with small shops, boutiques, antique stores and galleries, all of which encourage you to get out of your car and walk. When you do, you'll find that it's much easier to view the six murals that add luster to the scene. You can take rest stops during the day to refresh your shopping spirits, since Old Town has no shortage of inviting cafes, restaurants, and coffee houses. And if you can't seem to fit it all in one day in the Bay, you can spend the night in one of their charming Bed & Breakfast Inns or convenient Hotels. A trip to Old Town recalls a journey to the past. Just like our recently renovated Depot District, many areas have been restored to refect a more relaxed and quieter time. Old Town Bay St Louis Bay St. Louis Continued from Page 24 Project A went from Hwy. 90 and Washington all the way back to South Beach Blvd. through Spanish Acres to the beach in close proximity to St. Charles and Ramoneda streets. In May, council members rejected Favre's proposed $2.5 million general obligation bond issue for capital imjffovements to help fund some of the additional costs encountered during the improvement and complete unfinished portions of the project. Despite some problems, city Public Works Director Ron Vanney said, actual construction has gone rather smoothly. The city did a final walk-through and began tying up any loose ends on project C earlier this month, and project B is estimated to be completed by the end of July, Vanney said. Another benefit from the capital improvements funding and construction that most people don't realize, Vanney said, is that “right now w e have water extensions going on through the city, upgrading the systems" both for increased fire protection and improved service. That work is being completed by Baton Rouge-based Hartec Inc. with engineering firm Garner Russell and Associates. This is Pam, dealer and master of the $5 t3r le She knows when to hold them.
