birth as June 25, 1865. Seymour’s death certificate lists his date of birth as June 25, 1865. This same date is also listed on the death register at OLG Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis.
We are inclined to go with the 1859 date for several reasons. First, Aunt Annie said that her husband intentionally gave the wrong information, and she was aware that it was wrong. Aunt Annie said that her husband was in an organization in Bay St. Louis called “Woodman of the World” that offered burial insurance as part of its membership, but a person had to be less than 60 years old to join. It seems that Seymour was “over 60” at the time, so they “made him several years younger” by giving a false date of birth on the application. Thus, when he died, they had to put the “made up date of birth” on the death certificate and tombstone to collect the insurance. Aunt Annie says she is positive her father was bom on February 15, 1859. Second, the 1870 census places Seymour as one year older than his sister, Virginia. Church baptismal records show Virginia Carrio was bom in year 1861. Also, OLG records of First Communions made on February 9, 1873 show Seymour Carrio at age 16 or bom in/or around 1857. The 1880 census of Hancock County shows Seymour Carrio at age 22 or bom in 1858. All of this information indicates that Seymour was bom before 1860 - no where near 1865 as other records indicate.
Seymour died on January 13, 1933 according to Aunt Annie’s book and the headstone inscription. He married Margaret Veronica Kilbride on March 19, 1881. The death register at OLG Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis says she died on March 10, 1940. She is buried next to her husband in Cedar Rest Cemetery with a headstone that shows dates “1861-1940”. Margaret
V.	Kilbride was bom on February 1, 1861 in New Orleans, LA and died in Mobile, AL. She is the daughter of Michael Joseph Kilbride (1827-1880) and Bridget Kavany (1834-1864). Mr. Bernard Kilbride of New Orleans, LA supplied this information and has considerable more information on the Kilbride family and related lines.
Seymour Carrio was bom and raised in Waveland, MS. After he had raised his family, he moved to Bay St. Louis, where he died. He was a carpenter by trade. Based on information supplied by Aunt Annie Bontemps and Mrs. Ann Fabre Hamby of Mobile, AL, Seymour Carrio and Margaret Kilbride had the following descendants:
A.	Annie Nora Carrio - bom on May 4, 1882, died on March 15, 1980, and lived in Bay St. Louis, MS. She married Joseph Victor “J.V.” Bontemps on February 6, 1903. This wonderful lady, well into her “90’s” at the time of our interview, was the source of much of the Carrio information, and we will always be indebted to her. She was of perfect mind and in relatively good health for being over 90 years old. This couple had the following children:
1.	Wallace Joseph Bontemps - bom January 10, 1905 and died March 9, 1963. He married
Janet Strong and lived in Bay St. Louis. They had:
a.	Wallace J. Bontemps, Jr. - bom March 6, 1928 and lived in Patonic, WA.
b.	Clement R. Bontemps - bom June 19, 1930 and lived in Ocean Springs, MS.
c.	Jo Ann Bontemps - bom March 30, 1932, married Dr. Lenford Brasses, and lived in Baton Rouge, LA.
