Hancock County. Miguel is listed as age 45 that year and a native of Spain. His wife, Rose, is age 25, born in Hancock County, and children: Miguel Jr., 12; Cecile,
9; and Victorine, age 6. While no one remembers what went with this family, we have found some additional records on them. Hancock County marriage records show Emmanuel J. Marti marrying Barbara Ellen Dougherty on July 7, 1881. The “Doghtery Cemetery Plot” in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bay St. Louis has a grave marked as “Marti” in it, but appears to be a young person. St. Louis Cathedral has baptismal records of at least four children born to Miguel Marti and Rose Casanova: Miguel, born April 2, 1838; Cecilia, bom November 25, 1840; Manuel, born August 24, 1845; and Clara, born April 15, 1847. Emmanuel Marti died on November 6,
1922 at age 81, as found in the Our Lady of the Gulf Church records. Emmanuel J. Marti and Rosalie had several children baptized at OLG Church to include:
1.	Barbara Rosalie Marti - bom April 8, 1882. She married Walter Philip Martin on November 23, 1910 (OLG Church records).
2.	Mary Anne Josephine Marti - bom March 1, 1887.
3.	Ellen Mary Marti -bom May 15, 1889.
4.	James Michael Marti - bom January 21, 1892 and died in 1939. He has a headstone in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.
D.	Joseph Casanova - bom on April 11, 1825 (St. Louis Cathedral Baptism Book 11, p. 95). He appears on the estate settlement of his uncle, Louis Doby, and his mother’s settlement also. He apparently never married nor had any children, for he was living in Bay St. Louis in 1870 and 1880 with his sister, Caroline Perdue.
E.	Marie Louise Casanova - bom on March 9, 1829 (St. Louis Cathedral Baptism Book
13,	p. 129). According to the estate settlement of her mother, she was married to David J. Elder. She appears on the Louis Doby estate settlement as “Mrs. Elder.” OLG Church has Thomas Davis Elder’s baptismal record that shows he was bom on May 24, 1850 to David Elder and Marie Louise Casanova. The 1850 census of Hancock County has David Elder, age 50, and bom in Georgia. He was living with a Brooke family and Isabelle Elder, age 17, bom in Alabama.
II.	Louise D’auby - bom in October 1798 and baptized on May 16, 1799 at age 8 months (Baptismal record at St. Louis Cathedral Book 3, p. 90, act. 592). She apparently died as a child, for she was never mentioned in any of the many records found on this family, nor can anyone remember hearing talk of her.
III.	Louis Baptiste D’auby - bom October 9, 1800 (St. Louis Bapt. Book 3, p. 146, act 955). He was baptized on March 1, 1801. He lived all his life on the old Doby Place, south of Pearlington and is buried in the Doby family cemetery on the estate. He died on August 28, 1866, according to records in the Hancock County Court House. It was the settlement
