He was born on March 2, 1835 in Stillwater, NY (city incorrect). 3. He was a "Jr." on some records. 4. His death is recorded as February 8, 1924 in Binghamton, NY. 5. He was 5'8" tall, 160 pounds, dark complexion, black eyes, and black hair. 6. He could not read or write. 7. He joined the army on April 23, 1861 and was assigned to the 30th New York Infantry, Co. D, and was discharged on June 18, 18 63. He enlisted again on July 27, 1863 with the 21st New York Calvary, Co. A, and discharged on August 31, 1866 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. 8. He was a private and assigned as a "Ferrier", which is a blacksmith. 9. He was wounded at the battle of Antietam, Maryland on September 17, 1862. He was hit in the shoulder by a piece of shell and caught malaria from sleeping on the ground. 10.His pension application numbers were 474,167 and 474,187. He was given a monthly pension of $30 and later raised to $50. The City Clerk's Office in Stillwater, NY has a register of all local Civil War Veterans. In this book is "Isaac Myres, Jr., born Schaghticoke, NY, private, 21st NY Cavalry, current occupation was boatman, and parents were Isaac Myres and Elizabeth Mabb." The earliest record we have on Isaac Myres is in the 1850 Census of Stillwater, Saratoga Co., NY, house #346/376 where he is listed as "Isaac Myers, Jr., age 16, (1834), and laborer".
