Peter was appointed assesor or "enquirer" for the Parish of St. Dennis or Orange Quarter by the Tax Act of 1715 as mentioned previously. His daughter Susannah married in 1720, and his son Peter died in 1722. Sometime after this, I believe, he moved with his wife and eight youngest children to North Carolina. Anthony and Susannah stayed in South Carolina.
Peter died in 1730 near Wilmington in New Hanover County, North Carolina. Since he was more fluent in French than English, his will was written by someone else and the grammar* and spelling are very bad, but I have copied it over and reprint it in full. His signature is written in beautiful handwriting, and he spells his name thus
PETER POCTEVINT.
This will is listed in Grimes Abstracts of North Carolina Wills 1690-1760, p. 298, PbRTORWIN, Peter.
