During this year the church adopted the Tithing l*>xod (>nvol<>|x>s al a cost of eleven cents a box. The Sunday School Superintendent re|x>rted an enrollment of 54 with an average attendance of 43. By March 1946 this figure had climbed to 74 enrolled with an average attendance of 33. In November the enrollment was reported as 94 with an average attendance as 50. In 1948 it was raised to 114. During this year the building fund comnittee discussed a plan for incorporating the church to issue noninterest bearing or low interest r-ate bonds for financing the balance of the church cost. The resolution was so accepted.
The year 1947 was another important year in our history. In February the U. S. Government offered twelve army chapels at Camp Van Dorn in Centreville, Mississippi for sale at $1250.00 each. A corrmittee consisting of the Pastor, A. H. Gregory and H. B. Duckworth were appointed to confer ;uul submit a bid on the chapels. A chapel was obtained. In May a contract was accepted with R. P. Farnsworth & Company, Inc., General Contractors, of New Orleans, Louisiana, to diMiumtle ;md rebui Id on the church lot on Main Street. With volunteer labor it was rebuilt. Using the material in the existing building for a Sunday School wing, reconstruction and bricking the entire structure took about six months.
In May 1947 eleven charter members attended Brotherhood. There were several visitors. Reverend James Street gave an inspiring message on the need for Brotherhood in churches. Dr. A. P. Smith was replaced by H. A. Gregory as Treasurer of our church. M. L. Hill became Clerk.
On November 7, 1947 the first services were held in the new church building.
During this month it was voted by the church to accept \V. A. McDonald's offer of $750.00 for the old church lot.
In 1948 the Lottie Moon church Offering was $42.00. In 1949 it was $57.00. The purchase of a church bus was discussed. In 1949 efforts were made by the church to organize a church in Waveland.
