v) O Yellow Fever swept through our town in 1878. This picture of Mr. Joseph Saucier, then postmaster, shows how mail was struck with a wooden paddle set with wire nails after which it was shaken in a box of sulphur dust and presumed free of the dread germs. Mr. Saucier's two sons arc pictured opposite. The seated boy, as we all kuou him now. Police Chief Saucier, is shown in a present day photograph. U u ft)
