BY SHARON SAUCIER j A tornado dipped down briefly, long enough to partially j destroy the home of a Kiln family, but they are trying to keep ’ their spirits up. The home of Roland and Lethia Cuevas was hit by a tornado at approximately 2 p.m. yesterday. The estimated cost of damage was unknown at press time. I “We have lost a lot, but we will start over. I loved my home,but : my family is O.K. and that is what is important,” Lethia Cuevas ! said. \ Cuevas was not at home at the time that the tornado touched J down during reported severe wind, rain and hail, but her ; brother, Alfred Saucier, was. He was uninjured, Cuevas said. The Cuevas home, on Hwy. 43, is six miles from the Hwy. 603 junction. Cuevas said that the front porch of her house was ripped off and is now in their back yard. The ceiling in the master bedroom is now in the floor and there is quite a bit of water damage. “We can’t really tell right now how much was damaged. The electricity was turned off because there was a lot of wire dam-s age. Right now, it is hard to tell what is salvageable and what i isn’t,” Cuevas sa’i. 60th anniversary Kenneth and Louise Dike celebrated their 60th wedding anniversaiy on June 12. The Dikes were married in Oklahoma City, Okla., on June 12, 1934. They are the parents of three sons, Charles Dike, Nashville, Tenn.; David Dike, Dur-am, N.C.; and John Dike, Harvey, La.; six grandsons and one grandaughter. The Dikes built a house on Bayou Talla, Kiln in 1946 and moved in fulltime upon retirement in 1973 after 37 years each as teachers at Country Day School in Metairie, La.
