Samuel, sixth Child of Peter and Susannah, died 174l. Abstracts of N. C. Wills, Olds, p. 201, has this:
"1741 Poitevent, Samuel, Ruth, James,
Joseph Hester."
I have been unable to obtain a copy of this will. There is no further mention of these people, leading me to believe they are not descendants but his wife Ruth; his brothers and sisters James, Joseph and Hester.

"ReacJ sundry petitions for Patents viz Samuel Portivent 64-0 N. Hanover D?6400? June 4, 1740."

"Read the memorial of Geo. Doherty, setting forth that a certain James Love, of Duplin Co., aided with a party of armed men, came to the House of Samuel Poitevints, of New Hanover Co., & violently broke open an outhouse, and took from thence a quantity of salt, the property of the memorialist."
Dec. 10, 1776.
In N. H. C. C. M. 1738-1800 by Walker, it states that in 1737 Samuel was appointed constable and in 1738 Samuel recordc his brand, which looks like this:
