The elaborately carved design on the back of the bench depicts the mythological tale of Orpheus losing his beloved Eurydioe. The cool, white bench is shaded by magnolias and is a good spot for a moment of rest and reflection.
A wrought iron fence from New Orleans runs along a ridge bordering another pathway. During the Great Depression Miss Mary held tea parties and invited residents of Montgomery to join in painting the bright blue grape clusters and vivid red and yellow flowers which adorn the fence.
Visitors to the outdoor museum are greeted at every turn with the promise of another visual treat. From the graceful pose of the bronze Marathon Boy to the smooth Carrara marble of Nike, there is sure to be something to please the most discriminating art connoisseur.
But Jasmine Hill is not just statues. The terraces and plateaus overflow with the rich, bold colors of flowers in bloom almost year round. In summer, the spicy scent of yellow and orange marigolds fills the air and tropical hibiscus blossoms attract wandering butterflies. Fuzzy ageratum blue hugs the ground and crepe myrtles begin to peel their silvery bark. Fall shows camellias full of buds anxious to burst onto the winter scene. In spring, a kaleidoscope of pink azaleas and the pure white petals of the dogwood dominate the landscape.

Whether reading poetry to one another under the magnolias or searching Greece for their next art treasure, the former childhood sweethearts' love and devotion to each other grew along with their garden museum.
