Cub Reporter
After completing my education at a junior college I was hired by a local paper as a trainee. First you begin by helping other reporters put together information they had gathered. Experienced reporters have leads because they are well known. This is what I wanted to be.
I went into an industrial park and there was a lot being cleared and it was by far the largest in the park. I went to the people working there but nobody knew anything. Finally I found their boss and he said he couldn?t tell me anything. Outside was a large sign THE ACADEMY
I went to find the deed recording at the court house and learned the name of the owner was Dan Arnold. By a stroke of luck his name was in the phone book with his address and I decided to go to his home. He seemed very cold and wouldn?t say very much.
I had been told in school that if you want to be a good reporter you must find the money trail. I went to Mr. Arnolds home town to see if there might have been a large estate settlement but there was none.
I decided that it was time to confront him with what I did know and see if he would open up. He was not home but I ran into him at a coffee shop and asked point blank about the money. All he would say was that it was nobody?s business.
