Letter from Schuyler Poitevent, Sr., to Ginevera Poitevent, March 7, 1934
"Erline Sullivan's grandmother was Sarah Caroline Poitevent, sister of Robert Poitevent, who never married, died at Thomaston, Ala, and to John W. Poitevent, who went to Gainesville,
Fla., and to Rebecca Jane who married Thomas Stanford of Boston and whose grandson, William Rufus King Stanford was living in North Alabama three years ago.
This is the Poitevent group that stopped at Columbus, Ga., while emigrating from N. C. about 1830. This John W. Poitevent afterward came to Pearlington and helped build Uncle John's house."
