The recent discover of several charter dales led Bay Mayor
I	ictor ./. Franckiewicz Jr. to request the original charter date from the state department.
Franckiewicz believes this is the correct dale since il is only weeks after Mississippi became a slate in December 1817.
He said there is apparently no official record of the 18.y<> date which was celebrated 29 years ago as the city s centennial.
