At this time the Women's Missionary Service reported memlx?rship of 40 and enmllment of 29 in Sunbeams and Girls in Action. Dr. G. Tureli's widow gave $400.00 for purchase of an organ. The church library was started by Mrs. A. A. Alexander. The pastor's office was moved to rear of Sunday School rooms where library is now located. One Hundred Dollars was donated to the Lakeshore Mission Revival. The Vacation Bible School that year donated $35.00 to be given to the Lakeshore Mission for building repairs. In September of that year the church accepted the motion made to sponsor meetings being held in Waveland Church. Under Rev. Batson's leadership a Mission Church was formed and called Waveland Baptist Chapel. In 1960 this mission attained church status. In 1966 it reported an enrollment of 215 members and assessed valuation of property at $65,000.00. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Buice were our choir leader and pianist. In 1953 our church took another step forward in its building program. The Hart, property listed as "Lot 542, First Ward, City of Bay St. Louis, Hancock County as per official map or plat made by E. S. Drake, Civil Engineer and filed in the office of Chancery Clerk of Hancock County", was purchased by the church. :?-t. a cost of $9,000.00, Two Thousand Five Hundred down and a monthly installmont of One Hundred-Twenty Dollars at 4% starting June 10, 1953. A Deed of Trust, was executed in favor of Agnes Mary Wentworth. The old homestead was to become the Educational Building and a apartment for the Music Director. In February of the year the Sunday School enrollment was listed as 253. A leadership Banquet was held at Hotel Reed in October of this year and the cost of each plate was one dollar and fifty cents. In March 1954, the Church recorrmended the licensing of Ted Perry to the ministry. The next year this young man attended Boys State held in -Jackson by the American Legion. He was elected Governor. Later during the sunnier he attended Boys Nation and was elected President. Brother Batson in his article in the B.T.U. Magazine of May 1955 said of him, "God has blessed him in a marvelous way with a splendid personality, a sure voice, and a deep consecration to the service of Christ." No wonder his fellow V *
