BRANDER, Capt. J. C.
•	1899 - The reporter of the Democrat-Star enjoyed a pleasant half hour recently in looking over the shipyard of Capt. Geo. Frentz, where a monster mud scow is under construction and watching the skilled work of the ship builders, who notwithstanding the intense heat of the day, were progressing steadily in the accomplishment of their task. The scow will be 130 feet long, 41 feet 4 inches wide and 12 feet depth of hold, and will cost $14,000. This is the LARGEST VESSEL OF ITS KIND EVER CONSTRUCTED HERE. Capt. Frentz is assisted by Capt. J. C. Brander, his foreman of the yard. DStar, Aug. 11,1899.

BRENTZ, Capt. Albert
•	1928 - Capt. Albert Brentz, an old much respected citizen of this community, died at his home here Monday morning. The funeral was held from the home on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Mr. Wedig conducting the services. Interment was in Zion Cemetery, Escatawpa. Chronicle-Star & MP Advertiser, Mar. 9, 1928.

BROADUS, Thomas

•	Thomas Broadus, an established sea captain and barge builder and his wife, Elizabeth Bestpitch of Dorchester Co., Maryland, moved before 1816 to Baldwin/Jasper/Putnam Co., Georgia and began barge building on the Apalachee River. The son of Thomas and Elizabeth Broadus was Moses Broadus, born June 21, 1894 in Maryland. He married Elizabeth Marcus Dec. 23, 1816 in Georgia.
