Prolongation of the boy’s life is attributed to a transfusion of blood which took play at an early hour this morning when Arthur Tomasich of Bay St. Louis voluntarily gave a pint of blood to be used for the operation. Tomasich, who is 19 years old, is not related to the boy and said he had never seen him before yesterday afternoon.
Following the accident the Holden lad is said to have lost a large quantity of blood before medical aid could be obtained for him. He was brought to the King’s Daughters’ Hospital here last night on Louisville and Nashville train No. 10 by Mrs. Albert Heitzman, her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Query and Arthur Tomasich.
The accident in which the boy was injured occurred at the Intersection of Washington Street and Old Spanish Trail at Bay St. Louis, when a touring car driven by John R. Perez and occupied by a party of Orleanians and a roadster driven by Daniel Fayard collided, throwing the youngster into the windshield of the touring car. Daniel Fayard and Miss Cuevas of Waveland, other occupants of the roadster, who were slightly injured, were reported by their attending physician tonight to be getting along nicely. A fourth occupant of the car, Irving Fayard, who suffered a mangled leg, was sent to New Orleans for medical attention.
(NOTE: Why did Mrs. Heitzmann, Lillian and Thomas accompany Holden??? Relative/Family or Lillian’s husband being a Division Signal Engineer for the RR??)
