Lord!" The church resolved the air conditioning project which totaled $6,195.00
with $3,750.00 downpayment and balance payable at $69.(Xi monthly starting July 20,
1954 to Fox Engineering Company of New Orleans. The installation of duct and grill
work was in contract to Adolph Bourdin of Pass Christian for $1,802.00 plus 2%
Mississippi Sales Tax. This was also the year that it was decided to give pins for
perfect attendance in Sunday School each year. It was also decided to sponsor a bus
operated by Mr. Charlie Beam to transport boys from Camp Jordan for services on
Sunday at a cost of $15.00 per Sunday in cooperation with the Methodist Church.
On May 8, 1955 a motion was made at the Deacon's Meeting to set aside $1,200.00
at $25.00 a month for four years in the 1956 Church budget to help in the establishment

of a camp such as Camp Garraway on the Mississippi Coast. During this year a Church census was taken. At a meeting on September 11, 1955 the sale of the parsonage at #336 Carroll Avenue was talked about. On October 27, 1955 this property was sold to Ed Ortte and L. B. Daron for $8,500.00. This is recorded in Deed Record IBook K-4 Page 565. Later, December 14, 1955 it was sold to the Russell Elliots who presently own the home. On May 12, 1955 the parsonage at 106 Bay View Court was purchased from Mr. & Mrs. B. D. Hogue for $12,250.00. This is recorded in Book K-2 Page 285, Book of Deed Records. The Batsons were the first to occupy the new parsonage.
In 1956, Rev. Batson left our church to go to Alexandria, Louisiana. He was succeeded by Rev. Bill Baria who remained with us for one year. While he was with us the plans for new educational building were presented. In order to do this $50,000.00 was required. It was to be a two story building able to accomodate 300 people.
Sidney Ball, Homer Gregory, Jack Bryan, Dan Russell, Russell Chapman, Alfred Cospelich, Wilson Webre, James Fillingame, and Dr. T. B. Sellers were placed on Building Committee. During this year, Dr. A. P. Smith was hononxl by the church for his filly years of service in the field of medicine.
At this time dissension arose in the membership over the visiting policy of the
