Distinctive.vernacular resources that survive from the late 19th century period in Bay St. Louis include the home of Louis Piemas, the jnrst black postmaster in Bay St. Louis, a Shotgun built between 1880 and 1900 and located at 202 South Toulme Street and the Kate Lobrano House, a Vemacular Shotgun built ca. 1900 at 108 Cue Street. Both of these dwellings exhibit a high degreeTof integrity. Fewer"examples of vernacular architecture have survived in the rural areas of the county. A simple^ vernacular house built between 1894 and 1904 is located at 8020 Road 272 in Kiln (extant) (Table,3. # 19). It illustrates the type of home prevalent for workers in naval vstore industries, prior to the sawmill era in Kiln.
