For the convenience of the Bank’s numerous patrons, there are safety deposit boxes. The Hancock County Bank has just constructed the new postoffice building of brick with stucco finish, which is to be furnished and equipped with quartered oak fixtures, and automatic keyless lock boxes which is furnished by the Keyless Lock Company of Indianapolis, Indiana. This building was erected in order to facilitate the rapidly increasing postal business as well as the increasing Bank business. The bank’s affairs are directed by a board comprising substantial busii ess men of this section. The President, Eugene H. Roberts is also President of the Bank of Orleans; Hon. Joseph F. Cazeneuve, the Vice-President and Cashier, is one of the most highly esteemed citizens of Hancock County; he was for years the leading merchant at Bay St. Louis, and formerly served his people as their Sheriff and Tax Collector; Peter Tudury, the Assistant Cashier, has been connected with the bank almost since its organization, and has the confidence of the people of the County. Other directors consist of Dr. R. J. Turner, the oldest resident physician; Richard Meiules is the Postmaster of Bay St. Louis; F. C. Bordages, Sr., is the County Assessor and a prominent real estate operator; Elmer Northrup is the leading merchant at Pass Christian; Dr. A. R Robertson is the leading physician at Pass Christian; J M. McGlathery, the proprietor of the New Magnolia Hotel at the Pass; Col. Charles Marshall, Superintendent of the L & N. Railroad and Cartwright Eus-tis, the prominent stock and bond broker of New Orleans.
THE PEOPLES’ BUILDING & LOAN ASSOCIATION, of Bay St. Louis, is one of the successful institutions established since 1890. It is strictly a home enterprise and has on its books a large list of subscribers, which is being constantly added to. The President is Richard Mendez, and the Secretary, J. A. Breath.
