Cemetery in Saratoga Co., NY with a large headstone in the family plot. We found this cemetery listed on the internet, but he was not listed as buried there. She said Henry was a farmer in nearby East Galway NY, and she never heard anybody speak about his having any brothers, sisters, or cousins on that line of the family. We located the death certificate of his son, Warren Edward Seeley who died in 1945. The information on the certificate was given by William M. Seeley, son of Warren E. Seeley. In this record, Warren's parents listed are "Harvey Seeley, born in East Galway and Hanna Smith, born in East Galway". This "Hanna Smith was actually Hannah Elizabeth "Libby" Smith, daughter of Jonas Smith and Catherine Elizabeth Smith and will be discussed soon. William Seeley was the youngest child in this family, we are not sure the "Harvey" name he gave is correct. Grandma Woodward said it was "Henry" for sure, and we will go with this until we can find something different. Grandma had an excellent memory when we interviewed her, and we are inclined to believe her. Henry Seeley's son was born in 1866, and his wife shows up in the 1870 Census of Galway, in her parent's home as "Hannah Selly, age 31, and son Warren E. Seely, age 4". She shows up again in the 1880 Census of Galway in her parent's home as "Elizabeth Smith, age 42, and a widow. Also in the house is "Seeley Smith, age 14" which is our Warren Edward Seeley. With this we can conclude that Henry Seeley was born around 184 6 if he was age 20 when his son was born in 1866. He married Hannah around 1865, based on their son's age, and he died between 1866, and 1870, around 1868. We have done extensive research to find more information on him, but did not have much luck. Grandma Woodward told us in 1978 that Henry Seeley's wife (her grandmother) was Hannah Elizabeth "Libbie" Smith, and that she was also buried in the Rock City Falls Cemetery. She died when Grandma was a young girl, and Grandma remembers her very well. She said these Smiths were early settlers and farmers of East Galway, NY. She said her grandmother had at least two brothers and one sister that she knew of. They were Philip and Peter Smith, but she could not remember the sister's first name. They also lived on the old homestead in the East Galway community. Hannah Smith, whose full name was Hannah Elizabeth "Libbie" Smith, based on her New York death certificate, was born on January 8, 1838 in "New York State". Her parents listed were "Jonas Smith and Margaret (last name unreadable). She died on September 10, 1917, in Rock City Falls, NY and was buried in that cemetery. We found this cemetery on the internet and no head marker could be found. The certificate is filed as "Hannah E. Baker" and the information was supplied by her son, Warren E. Seeley. As discussed earlier, she had only one child and was left a widow around 1868. She was baptized in 1843, as "Hannah Elizabeth Smith" at the Wynantskill Dutch Reformed Church in Rensselaer County. The record shows she was "born on Jan. 8, 1838, daughter of Jonas Smith and Catherine Margaret Smith". After her first husband died, she married Charles N. Baker on April 29, 1886 in the town of Milton, NY. The marriage certificate says it was her 19
