Timeline ? The following statements are recorded to the best of my memory. I cannot give exact dates for each occurrence but only time periods. This series 6f actions' and inactions placed me in an intolerable position in relation to continued operation of the L. W. Anderson Genealogical Library. My frustrations culminated when a patron from Texas responded to my continual reply of ?I don?t know.? with ?What do you mean, you don?t know, aren?t you the director?? Z 1995 Late August early September The main air-conditioning/heating unit stops working. (Neither the owner nor the city wished to put in a new unit.) Mr. Olsen stops by and informs me that the building's lease is up and we are on a month to month basis. I ask about the depot and am informed it will be ready sometime in the summer of the following year. 1996 Winter A man comes in and looks around and when we asked if we could assist him, he said no he was just looking around. When he went into the break room, I explained that this area was for staff only. He then informed me that he was going to move the building. Sometime later, a volunteer reports that a gentleman opened the door and looked at the carpet saying he was buying/had bought it. Mid March Library volunteer, Mr. Ziegeler visits the site to ask about getting copy of second floor layout. He is going to assist us in placing books. Early May Mr. Ziegeler returns to site to pick up a copy of plans, if possible, so that when we pack we can label boxes to make it easier to reshelve. While there, he is met by official who tells him he must leave. ? Within several hours Buzz Olsen comes to library. I ask if he heard about my volunteer being at site. He says no but I pass on what volunteer told me. We talk in library office and Mr. Olsen explains the Mayor is going to require me to be open more days. I state that I am available three days and if the city wants to open and to staff the library the other days that it is fine with me. Mr. Olsen says he will talk to Mayor Favre. I asked if we could see the shelves or a shelf like the ones-we would be using to get the measurements. Mr. Ziegeler visits the public library and one of their librarians shows him the type of shelf we will use. He takes notes and leaves. Mr. Olsen brings us a set of the plans for the second floor. My volunteer maps out placement of books.
