rectory were Rev. Francis P.F. Duffy and his wife in 1909. followed in subsequent years by Rev. W. M. Cross, Rev. Thomas B. Clifford, Rev. Harry Perry, Rev. W. E. Dakin, and Rev. Robert E. Grubb. Then came Rev. Girault M. Jones who lived in the rectory at Pass Christian (later tfe became Bishop of Louisiana), and Rev. Warwick Aiken who also lived in the Pass Christian rectory.
During the depression years and hard times when the little church was without a minister it was Mrs. Katherine Worsley who saw that the church was kept open and the Sunday School continued.
On July 8, 1913 Christ Church was consecrated. In 1938 a parish house was erected, and in 19^7 three Sunday School classrooms were added.
Following the departure of Rev. Warwick Aiken and prior to the arrival of Rev. Charles R. Johnson was another period where the church was without a pastor. It was during this period when dedicated Lay Readers, such as Dick Shadoin and Phillip Allison, officiated and held the church together.
On November 30, 19^8 a more modern building on Phillips Street was purchased for a rectory, and on March 25, 19^9 the old rectory on Carroll Avenue was sold.
In 19^8 the Rev. Charles R. Johnson came from Jackson, Mississippi, as prlest-ln-charge of the mission, and in 1950 Christ Church was granted parish status. In that same year Christ Episcopal Day School was started by the rector, beginning as a kindergarten, with Mrs. W. E. Bartram as the firat teacher.
On June 30, 1951 a ?£ acre property at 912 South Beach was purchased for a school-church complex. In 1956 a new brick school building was completed, and in 1962 McCulloch wing was added, doubling its size. Brick residences were built for the rector and the curate in 1966 and 1968, respectively, and in 1969 Coast Episcopal High School was established at Pass Christian.
On August 17, 1969 a devastating hurricane, named Camille, visited our shores and destroyed our little Christ Church along with Coast Episcopal School at Pass Christian. For nearly two years the congregation met for services in the day school while a new church was being built, and on April 18, 1971 a new Christ Church was dedicated to the glory of God.
In March 1984 Rev. Charles R. Johnson, the first rector of Christ Episcopal Church, retired, after serving the Church for thirty-six years. He was honored by the new rector and Vestry, being named the first Rector Emeritus of Christ Church. His wife, Harriett, was also honored by having the Harriett Guild named after her.
The Rev. Arthur E. (Nick) Johnson was called to be the second rector of Christ Church, beginning his duties in July 1985. Since that time Father Nick has faithfully served the parish.
