The Mississippi Historical Society and Mississippi Department of Archives and History are on many occasions asked by interested individuals for a list of all historical societies within the state of Mississippi.
We are now attempting to compile an up-to-date list and are, therefore, in need of your assistance.
Enclosed you will find the latest listing we have of historical societies. We feel sure that many of the officers listed have been changed and possibly some of these societies are no longer in existence.
We would greatly appreciate your correcting the name and address of your local society and that of any other society that you might be familiar with. Also, if you know of any societies which are not listed, please add the name of the society plus the name and address of the individual who should receive inquiries concerning that society.
We would appreciate your returning the corrected list to us in the stamped self-addressed envelope we have provided. The only means of maintaining a current listing of local historical societies is by your help. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and hope that you will notify us in the future of any group that you feel should be added to this list.
