riDLV mm BULLETIN Vol. 30 ? No. 7 HOLY CROSS HIGH SCHOOL, NEW ORLEANS, LA. High School Graduation For 124 Guerin Brothers End Impressive H. C. Careers by Carroll Campbell The Guerin brothers, Roland and Russell, can boast of very outstanding careers since they first came to Tigerville in 1946. As Freshmen, the Guerins began early to make themselves known. In their first year at Holy Cross they were regular members of the Honor Roll and Roland walked off with the Gold Medal award for highest scholarship grades of the first year class. Roland repeated in the Sophomore Year. Russell hoisted gold medal honors from Roland in the Junior year. Bookworms are not appropriate names for the famous duo. Roth brothers are active in sports. Both were members of the State Wrestling Championship team. Roland won the 145 lb. division. Russell ran cross-country in his freshman year on the Track Team while Roland is a sprinter and broad jumper on this year?s State Track Championship aggregation. Both boys are members of the honor society?the Bookman, Roland being the president. Debating and Glee Club are other co-curriculars enthusiastically engaged in. Roland is Editor of the BULLETIN, Russell a feature writer. Russell is president of the Sodality, and Treasurer of the C.S.M.C. Fruitful careers end as Roland pronounces the valedictory on graduation night and Russell fulfills the duty of the Salutatorian. Concluding our comments on the scholastic leaders of the 1949-50 Graduating Class, we quote from the New Orleans States feature story on the Guerin brother combination: ?This year is probably the first year in New Orleans high school history that two brothers have attained the highest scholastic record in the same graduating class."
