Another i teel I should recognized is Mrs. Louise j Lynch, owner of Waveland Drug Store. I knew Mrs. Lynch and her late husband Mr. Harry Lynch when 1 they began operating the store in 1947.
When I was coming up, Waveland had very few permanent residents and everyone knew each other. i
I purchased many a soda and ice cream cone from the drug store.
Along the industry side it was good to see Gulf Coast Fabrication, located at Port Bienville Industrial Park selected.
It sure was good news when Dan Mortimer announced his firm had just secured contracts amounting to $15 million and will mean increasing employment over the next two years at his Hancock and Pass Christian plants.
Many of you may not know it, but, Bay St. Louis has the world?s first and largest manufacturer of colored drum stocks.
The Bay St. Louis industry Hot Sticks Manufacturing, owned by Kevin Pokallus and Chris Torgerson, was among the businesses recognized at the Salute.
The business, established in 1980, continues to grow and we are happy they received such an honor.
The John C. Stennis Space Center received the 1989 > Award of Excellence.
The space center has been very important for Hancock County and we are glad the agencies at the facility ^ were recognized.
I would like to also comment about the large number of persons who attended to salute Business and Industry.
This was the third year for the event and it was the best yet.
We do have to offer congratulations to Buz Olsen, Port and Harbor director, and Libby Roland, chamber executive director, for preparing a very good program.
