The Department did not wish to accept his resignation, which was originally set for January 1st of the year he left the service, hut he had premised his family he would lie more with them and away from the constant menace of losing his life whde in service, and it was this duty to his loved ones that he finally carried out his decision, beside, he said, he longed to live in Bay St. Louis and in the bosom of his family.
