The Maritime Museum will establish a permanent collection of maritime art of the Mississippi Sound. Provisions will he made to display local artist work in keeping with the museum theme.

Tke Mississippi Sound Maritime Historical Foundation is a Mississippi non-profit corporation and is a 501(c)(3) puklic c karity. Tke IRS k as rule d tkat all contrikutions to tke Foundation are tax deductikle. Initial contrikutions will ke used for tke preservation of tke Carnegie Likrary Building and tkereafter for tke Mississippi Sound Maritime Museum's estakliskment and operation.

SAIL TRAINING and NAVIGATION
Through the Midshipkids and tke Sad Training Program, children and youth will learn skills and traditions of the seaman who sailed vessels across the Mississippi Sound and from our port throu ghout the world. Hands on training, leading to trips hy sail and oar are planned for the fut ure, Building character and self reliance is the widely recognized result of sail training programs around the wor Id. The Maritime Museum will serve our community alternately as a Sail Training Center.

Some o f the museum exhibits are to he scaled down rigs of working sails used on luggers and schooners that will he raised, lowered, and furled hy sail training participants.

A replica of this lugger is heing studied for future sail training activities. Four sets of oars and suitably reduced sails would he fitted on our sail training luggers.
