Christ Episcopal Day School, which opened in the Parish House of Christ Episcopal Church in February 1950 with 17 kindergarten students, today has grown to include Coast Episcopal High School which opened its doors in 1969.
The school was founded with the intent of providing education at a high academic level, and also education which would emphasize moral and spiritual values.
The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools, and is listed in Private Independent Schools, the blue book of independent schools. It has an AA rating from the Mississippi Accrediting Commission.
A lay Board of Trustees who are leaders in several of the Coast communities, administer the school. The Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Bay St. Louis, is chairman of the board and serves as Headmaster of the school. The staff includes two PhDs., five MAs and two persons pursuing the MA degree. All other faculty members hold BA degrees plus many hours of post graduate work. All are certified by the state of Mississippi.

Here reading readiness is especially emphasized. Grades one through six emphasize basic education. Grades one, two, and three are taught by homeroom teachers, with special instructors for music, art, French, religion and physical education. Fourth through sixth grades are depart-vmentalized. Coast Episcopal High is on Espy Avenue, Pass Christian. Here are grades seven through twelve. The curriculum is strictly academic and college preparatory. Graduates are required to earn 20 credits. French, German, Latin and Spanish are the languages offered. In both 1975 and 1976 a CEHS student has placed
first in Mississippi at Level IV (senior level) in the National French proficiency tests. In the
1975	Mississippi Foreign Language Festival CEHS language classes took the overall prize for an original French skit, four first prizes and a second prize. Science students have earned prizes at district and state levels, and at the National Science Symposium at Duke University, and in
1976	at the International
Science Fair. In 1976 two students won Army 1 Science and Engineering j bronze medals.
Art students have merited prizes at Coast Art exhibits. In the field of speech and drama j Coast Episcopal students have consistently won awards for speeches, and 1 for Interpretive Reading,
Original Oratory, and two awards for Best Supporting Actor and I Actress. In addition to | one-act plays directed ) and performed by students, all school productions of Our Town, Brigadoon, Bell, Book and Candle, one-act excerpts from The Taming of the Shrew, Shaw’s Saint Joan, and George Eues-co’s The Leader have won acclaim.
