Stennis Space Center’s Teacher Resource Center provides educators with an easily accessible source of instructional materials suitable for use in the classroom at all levels. These materials reflect NASA research and technology development and relate to such curriculm areas as life science, physical science, astronomy, energy, Earth resources, environment, mathematics, and career guidance. In the resource center, educators will find reference materials on NASA and Stennis Space Center topics as well as information on other state and federal agencies located at Stennis. Educational publications are available to teachers at no charge. Publications include booklets, pamphlets, wall posters, photographs, and NASA fact sheets. Educational support materials available at the Teacher Resource Center (TRC) include: •Apple computer disks ‘Lesson plans •Audio cassettes ‘NASA publications •Classroom activities ‘Video programs •Curriculm materials »35mm slides Apple Computer Disks Materials on computer disks for use on the Apple lie can be duplicated for teachers supplying their own diskettes. Audio Cassettes A large selection of cassettes on subjects including lectures by leading scientists on space-related topics is found in the TRC. By providing a blank cassette tape, the educator can have a copy made free of charge. Classroom Activities, Lesson Plans, and Curriculm Materials Teachers may review and duplicate lesson plans and curriculm materials related to the space program while visiting the TRC. Prepared by aerospace education specialists, these materials are filed by grade, level and subject area. NASA Publications A large assortment of informational publications and lithographs produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration is available to visiting teachers at the center. Programs on Videocassettes Available for duplication is a wide selection of videotape programs. The TRC Video Catalog will assist teachers in program selection. The videotapes range in length from 5 to 60 minutes. The educator provides a blank tape on which the programs are copied free of charge. The duplication format includes %-inch cassettes, ‘/2-inch VHS Sp Mode (2 hours), and Beta Max II (3 hours). 35mm Slides For the convenience of educators, the Teacher Resource Center has a collection of 35mm slides. Educators can send color slide film to be copied by TRC personnel from slide masters on file. The exposed film is then returned to the teacher for processing.
