were made available with the first $1,500.00 as a gift. To the counties and cities, large grants of money for reconstruction were made. Then in this hurricane, the insurance companies were much more liberal than in 1947 in payment of damage claims. Even now there are many signs of damage left by Hurricane Camille. I recently visited IJelson County, Virginia, and saw the damage done there by ^his same killer, Hurricane Camille.
I could hardly believe my own eyes. Most of the hurricanes lose their force when they travel inland, but not Camille, it seemed to increase its force the further it went.
From retirement I now found myself trying to help as best
I	could to restore things to their normal condition. My son-in-law, D. E. Wilcox, had taken a very heavy loss,to help them rebuild came first.
Then came the building of "Our Shopping Center" by my son-in-law, D. E. Wilcox and Jody Gex. This required much of my time until it was opened for business in October, 1974. This is an enormous building being the largest shopping center on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, located on U. S. Highway 90 and Waveland Avenue, in Waveland, Mississippi. From sales records to date, this center has been an enormous success. It houses some of the largest and best-known chain stores in the country, some twenty different stores.
From my early childhood days, listening to family tradition from my kinsfolks about our early and illustrous ancestors, plus much study of early County histories, I became so much interested on this subject that I decided it would be best to put as much of this information in book form as possible, so that my decendants could continue their own family histories. From so small a beginning, I have accumulated an enoumous amount of notes, which I am now in the process of putting together in sequence. By October, 1974, I was only missing a few details to complete this family history to date. On October 19, 19 74, I returned home, first to Bethesda, Maryland, to my sister-in-law, Miss Francis Belbin, where she was able to furnish all the information I needed on the F. W. Belbin family. Then to Charlottesville, Virginia, where I was able to get xerox copies of the bibles of Thomas Carr of Carrsbrook Plantation, Dabney Carr of Aspin Hill Plantation, Samual Dabney Carr of Aspin Hill Plantation, also old Courthouse records of the Wills, etc., of the above, and their wives. Then to Nellys Ford, Nelson County, Virginia, to see my aunt, Hattie Turner. She was able to give me all the information I needed on the James Turner families. It is hard to believe that after all these years I would be able to find these priceless records. Thank to all of you for the great help you have been to me by furnishing this information. I now find that instead of a book of but few pages, it will have to be greatly enlarged to hold all of this information.
