New Orleans, son of Josiah Daniell who was a brother of Judge Lewis Daniell and Robert Daniell of Hancock county (Robert apparently came there a couple of years after Lewis). Based on your information we have pinned down the location of Judge Daniell?s plantation, ?Clifton.? My information is that the Pray cemetery, which I assume would have been located on P.R.R. Pray?s property, was on a site that is now part of the ?Belle Isle? residential development. We didn?t explore that possibility last month when we were there. The information I have now is that the stones from the Pray cemetery were moved to the Logtown cemetery. I have no idea if this is accurate, nor if so do I know if this means the graves, or just the stones, were moved. From the Internet Eastern States Federal Land Grant database we do have the location of five Hancock County Federal land grants made to Pray, although strangely they are all dated after his death in 1839...one as late as 1851. Please let me know if you find anything that can shed any light on my family...or if there is anything else I can tell you. I?m sorry that I can?t contribute much information on Judge Lewis Daniell other than his ancestry. I intend to write an article on the Pray/Daniell ancestries, but have held off because we have data on Pray ancestors (and possible Butler ancestors) that hasn?t yet been entered into our system. If and when this gets done I?ll send a copy (don?t hold your breath!). I hope the dig at the A. Jackson, Jr. property in Waveland is going well! Best wishes, Marco has e-mailed me a copy of notes he has made which indicate that Judge Daniell?s purchase of Clifton Plantation is recorded in Deed Book A, Page 1 at the Hancock County Court House. Could you have someone track that down and make a copy for me...and send it along accompanied by an invoice for your costs. Also, are there any deeds recorded in the 1823 to 1825 time period for initial purchases of land by P.R.R. Pray? If so I would like a copy of same as well. Thanks! Too bad we got to Bay St. Louis last month on Saturday afternoon, or I could have made the time to do this research on my own! Charles,
