A letter of gratitude to Dr. W. Plunkett. Martin on ivi inim'iil. I'mn the N(>w Orleans Baptist Seminary read: "You were gracious to sing and lead us in praise during a revival meeting in 1943 when Dr. Frank Stagg did the preaching. Then we were small in number and possessed a frame building located in an obsure corner of Cedar Rest cemetery. We received with appreciation your generous girts or our rirst Broadman Hymnals.1'
Bob Tumage resigned as Minister of Music and was replaced by E. D. Montgomery.
A letter was sent to the Waveland Mission congratulating them on becoming a church on October 16, 1960. The church united with the other Prtestant Churches to erect a highway sign directing visitors to our churches. The church also participated in the Census survey of the corrrnunity. During this year it was made known that the policy of the church was to decline admittance to church services or the Negro race unless some special service or occasion as funeral etc...justified exception to the rule.
This year also saw our church's pastorium debt-Tree. Post cards and church bulletins with a picture of the church were authorized at this time. Rev. Chester Suor conducted the Spring Revival in our church.
Rev. Franklin Atkinson left our church in October 1961 to accept the pastorate of Riverside Baptist Church in New Orleans. Dr. J. H. Kennedy became our Interim Pastor in April 1962. Mims M. Roberts became our Minister of Education and Music.
The year 1963 brought Rev. Emory Green to our pulpit. He came on April 21st and remained with the church for three years. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering that year was $404.09. Mims Roberts resigned as Music Director and was replaced by Truett Broadus. On November 17th an all day Homecoming Service was held and several of the former pastors returned to be with us.
During 1964 a mimeograph machine was purchased from Amana Business Machines. The roof was replaced and the exterior of the church was painted. The Brotherhood Department installed posts around the rear lot of the church. The church recorrmended that two men serve as ushers to greet visitors and members each Sunday. The Sunday School reported
