L. M. GEX is developing an extensive business as a timber contractor, and a contractor for round and hewn piling, which he furnishes to railroads and also to the building trade of New Orleans, although a large portion of his trade consists in extensive export shipments to Panama. Mr. Gex has furnished an immense quantity of materials to the Panama Canal Commission for the construction of the Canal. During the past season he has shipped seven full steamer cargoes of This Palatial Horae is the Residence of R. R. Perkins. piling to Panama; he has also an extensive business in shipping timber and piling for the Missouri River and its tributaries flowing through Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska. This material is also shipped direct to the United States Government. Mr. Gex has been established in this business for the past twelve years, although he has been prominently identified with commercial affairs of the Bay for the past 20 years; he has large realty holdings at the Bay, and owns extensive land holdings throughout the County; he is one of the organizers and a director of the Merchants Bank. FRANK HYMEL has established a very successful livery business in the nine years that he has been established; his rigs are all first-class, and he caters to the commercial travelers’ trade, in addition to the large trade that he enjoys New St. Stanislaus College one of the most Famous Institutions of Learning in the South and identified with the History of Bay St. Louis for many years past. amongst the best of New Orleans families that make the Bay their summer home; he has been identified with Bay St. Louis off and on for the past fifteen years. Mr. Ilymel is a property holder, the secretary of the Bay St. Louis Benevolent Association and the Banker of the local Woodmen.
