Peace according to the Hancock County marriage records. They had their civil marriage “blessed” in the Catholic Church on December 25, 1877 by a Priest in Bay St. Louis, Ms.
Virginia lived in Waveland all her life and spent her time as a housewife raising a large family. For her children see the Bourgeois Family History for more information. It is through this line that Deborah Ann “Debbie” Weidman Heitzmann is related to the Carrio family.
Besides the sibling, Francisco “Frank” Carrio, Jr. mentioned earlier and covered below, our Joseph “Pepe” Carrio had one known sister. She was “Mary Carrillo, wife of Ursine Ladner” as named in the Will of “Jose Carrillo” as his granddaughter. She was bom on February 2, 1830 and named “Marie Carillo” as found on her Baptismal Record at St. Louis Cathedral. We later found her middle name, as listed on the baptism of her son, Joseph Severin Ladner in 1848 at OLG Catholic Church. The record states her fixll name was “Marie Conception Cari” and her husband was listed as “Ursin Ladner”. This family is covered in the “Ladner Odyssey”, page 657. She is clearly listed as an heir to “Rosalie Harra” in the sale of property in Hancock County in 1869. She is named as a “Cary, Pepe, and Carrio” on various baptism and marriage records found at OLG Church. They had at least 7 children: Joseph Severin, Frederic, Leander, Ursin,
Jr. (called Calvin or “Sa-san”), Evelina “Aspasie”, Marie Evellina, and Emile Francis Ladner.
The following is some additional information on Joseph “Pepe” Carrio’s brother, Francisco “Frank” Carrio, Jr. who married Melissa Jane Duck on April 11, 1856 according to the Hancock County court records. They lived in Hancock County and had four children according to Mrs. Cecile E. Carrio Turcottte, a granddaughter of this Frank and Melissa Jane Carrio. Melissa Jane Duck, wife of Francisco “Frank” Carrio, Jr. had at least one sister called Margaret Duck that married William Flynn on September 15, 1853. This marriage is recorded in the Hancock County Court House. They were last known to be living in the Gulfport, MS area.
Cecile Turcotte told us that Melissa and Frank Carrio Jr. had at least two girls that died as infants and two sons that reached maturity. They were:
I.	Marie Carmelete Carrio - bom on October 19, 1856 to “Francois S. Carillo and Jane Dock” as found on Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church records. She died as a child. We think the “S.” middle initial given Francois was actually an error for his known middle name “Cirilo”.
II.	Samuel “Sam” Carrio - bom in 1859 according to his headstone in Waveland Cemetery. The 1880 census of Hancock County shows him living with Joseph “Pepe” Carrio and family. He was 21 years old that year or bom in 1859. His death is recorded in OLG Catholic Church as died on December 12, 1893 of pneumonia and was bom at “Pearl River, Miss.” Sam’s obituary record in The Sea Coast Echo newspaper says he died on December 12, 1893 at age 34 years and 8 months. It also says he leaves behind a wife and 5 small children. He married Lauratine “Laura” Bordages on December 5, 1883 according to OLG Catholic Church records. She was a daughter of Joseph Bordages and Rose Emma “Rosema” Bourgeois. See our Bordages Family History for more information on her. The Children of Laura Bordages and Samuel “Sam” Carrio were:
A.	Stella F. Carrio - died in Waveland at age 13 and is buried there. Her headstone says “1885-1898”. OLG baptismal record says her name was Mary Stella bom on January 24, 1885.
