The following is the last will of James Lee 1757-1844
STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA NEW HANOVER COUNTY
I,	James Lee of the St2/ta and County aforesaid, being of perfect mind and memory, but knowing trust it is appointed unto men once to die, do make and ordain this my	Will and Testament, in the manner following,
viz. First, I bequeth	my	beloved wife	Selah Lee,	a	negro man named
Charly and a negro woman xamed	Chloe,	to be	at her own	disposal. I also
give her a negro boy naased. Henry about eight or nine years of age during her life time, then to be equally divided between my children, i.e. James Lee, Thomas Lee, Peyton Lae, Theresa Ann Lee, Tabitha Rogers, and the heirs of my son Rogers	deceased.	I	bequeath unto my Daughter
Theresa Ann Lee a young aesro man named Sterling and a negro girl named Julia about eleven years age. I bequeath unto the heirs of my son Rogers Lee, deceased, a n&zro man named Robert about thirty one years of age. I bequeath unto 3?" son Peyton Lee a negro boy named Sam about three years old. I beqcesnh unto my son James Lee in addition to what I have given him before trifc sum of two hundred dollars if there should not be so much money left: Tfy me, then it must be raised out of such of my property as is not menrzioned in this will. I bequeath unto my daughter Tabitha Rogers a negro	named Esther about twenty one years of age.
