trying to visit his ruined summer home met some of the worst of the lot. Knowing the roads were impassable,
he traveled to his bayou-side home in his boat. At the entrance of Bayou Boisdore, he saw men in a skiff. He went closer to offer assistance. As the boats touched, shotguns covered him and his money and a reserve supply of gasoline were taken at gunpoint.
On the return trip, he ran out of gasoline and tied up op a train bridge in Lake Pontchartrain. When he attempted to board a passing train, he was summarily driven off by the train crew.
