THE SUMMER TIME UPON US
Yesterday might have been taken for a day in the middle of the summer. So bright, hot and dazzling was the sun, and so summerish was the temperature in the shade.
The general dullness of the times reminded us also of the most listless season of the year, and the great numbers of people promenading the streets with apparently not much else to do. We have scarcely ever known a much more sudden falling off of business and travel.
Those who have gone are bound on a long voyage to Europe, and they appear to have departed at short notice and all together.
