In 1965, Dewey I-iine, wh' > had replaced Truitt Broadus as Ministi'r of Music resigned. Charles Thomas? eLectric organ which had been Lent to the church was returned to his home to be used as a trade in for a new one. 'Hie pastor reconmended the adoption of appointing a "Deacon of the Week" for visits to hospital, shut-ins, etc... Merle Little became church clerk and Ethel Mae Fi11ingame wits employed as church secretary.
Dr. E. N. Wilkerson became our Interim Pastor when Rev. Bnory Green left in January 17, 1966 to go to Arlington Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida. Mr.
Salters and Mr. King were appointed to get estimates for hurricane damage to pastorium roof. Alfred Cospelich was hired as Custodian of the church and received $1.25 an hour for services rendered. A. H. Gregory, M. L. Hill, and Dr. T. B. Sellers were proclaimed Life Deacons having served fifteen years or longer in that capacity.
The church was asked to support the corrmunitv blocxi drive sponsored by the Hancock Bank. Bro. Wilkinson asked for donations to defray the expenses of radio and T.V. appeal against legalized liquor. Bro. Wilkinson served as Interim Pastor for about one and half years.
On July 27, 1967 J. T. Dearing was recalled as Pastor of the church, llis salary was to be $6,000.00 an increase of $700.00 over the present budget and a car allowance of $1,200.00, an increase of $600.00. The Minister of Education and Music in the budget was allowed $3,380.00. The renovation of Fellowship Hall ;ind Sunday School rooms was performed by laying new tile. Ronnie Hague became our new Music Director. On Sunday July 13, 1969, the church dedicated its new'lv constructed Education Building. The two story, five department building replaced a large residence purchased serveral years before and called the "Hart House". It had been used as a children's building. The dedication took place at "1:30 P.M. FOLLOWING AN OLD FASHION DINNER ON THE GROUNDS". Individual participants in the service were Rev. J. B. Brister, Superintendent of Missions of Gulf Coast Association Building Conniittee, and Mr. M. L. Hill Treasurer, and Pastor
