One of the most noted Educational Institu= tions in the South for Young Ladies.
ST. JOSEPH’S ACADEMY was founded in 1855. It is delightfully situated on the shores of Bay St. Louis, and throughout the summer a daily dip in the Bay is one of the many delights of the students. The academy grounds are extensive, and abound in groves and avenues, affording every advantage for recreation and healthful exercise. Frequent excursions under the escort of the Sisters of St. Joseph, are made into the piney woods. The grounds extend three squares back from the Bay, and have a frontage of one and a half squares on the Bay. The new academy building is a large brick structure, Romanesque in design. The class rooms and dormitories being so arranged that they are swept by the health giving breezes off the Gulf of Mexico. The building is heated throughout by a modern heating plant.
Hot and cold baths are a feature. '1'lie interior finish of the academy building is of mission All of the class rooms overlook the Bay and the beautiful gardens and grounds of the academy. The class rooms are fitted throughout with up-to-date equipment. The courses included, comprise a thorough English and French literary course, an up-to-date commercial course.
